
The “Adopt a Student” Program aims to enable the participation of students in situations of socioeconomic vulnerability in the 37th Brazilian Congress of Virology and the 21st Mercosur Meeting of Virology (37th CBV/21st EMV). Funding for this social initiative is obtained through sponsorships from companies, SBV members, and partners, as well as resources from courses offered by SBV. In this way, the program seeks to engage the scientific community and the private sector in promoting accessibility to knowledge in the field of virology.
In this edition of the program for the 37th Brazilian Congress of Virology and the 21st Mercosur Meeting of Virology, selected students will receive:
IMPORTANT: The financial support and lunch vouchers will be delivered in person at the Secretariat of the 37th CBV/21st EMV upon signing a receipt by the beneficiary student.
Students eligible to apply for the “Adopt a Student” support program must be regularly enrolled in undergraduate or graduate (Master’s or PhD) programs and, at the time of application, meet all of the following criteria:
*Definition of scholarship: For the purposes of this call, a scholarship is any form of regular financial support intended for student maintenance, provided by funding agencies, educational institutions, foundations, public or private organizations, or research projects. Occasional aid, one-time financial assistance, or support specifically for event participation will not be considered a scholarship, provided it does not constitute regular income or employment.
Proof: The absence of employment and scholarship must be proven at the time of application through a declaration issued by the student’s educational institution. The organizing committee reserves the right to request additional documentation if necessary.
General provisions: Changes in the candidate’s academic, professional, or financial situation after application submission will not be considered for eligibility purposes. Providing false or incomplete information will result in disqualification at any time.

Selected students will be notified by email, at the address provided in the application form, by 11:59 PM on August 20, 2026, confirming their acceptance into the “Adopt a Student” program. Participation must be confirmed no later than August 27, 2026, via email to: sbvirologia@gmail.com.
If no response is received within the deadline or if the student is unable to attend the event, the spot will be offered to the next candidate on the waiting list, following the tie-breaking criteria described in the section “POSITIONS AND SELECTION CRITERIA” of this call.
Students selected from the waiting list will be notified by email, at the address provided in the application form, by 11:59 PM on August 28, 2026. Confirmation of participation for waitlisted students must be made no later than September 3, 2026, via email to: sbvirologia@gmail.com.
The final ranking will be published on the Brazilian Society of Virology website on September 4, 2026.

The Brazilian Society of Virology (SBV) is pleased to announce another edition of the “SBV Student/Postdocs Travel Grants” program, aimed at providing travel support to undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral researchers affiliated with SBV. The program may also support undergraduate, Master’s, and PhD students, postdoctoral researchers, or professionals affiliated with institutions in Latin American countries, provided they are members in good standing with SBV or with SBV’s partner Latin American societies. The list of partner societies is available on the SBV website (https://www.sbv.org.br/parceiros).
This initiative aims to encourage the participation of young scientists in the CBV/Mercosur Virology Meeting, promoting the dissemination of scientific work, the exchange of knowledge, and the strengthening of the virology community at both national and international levels.

For the 37th Brazilian Congress of Virology / 21st Mercosur Meeting of Virology, at least twenty (20) Travel Grants* in the amount of R$760.00 (seven hundred and sixty reais) will be offered to undergraduate, Master’s, PhD students, or postdoctoral researchers of Brazilian nationality, as follows:
For the 37th CBV/21st EVM edition, a total of two (02) Travel Grants* in the amount of R$1,000.00 (one thousand reais) will be offered to undergraduate, Master’s, PhD students, postdoctoral researchers, or professionals affiliated with institutions in Latin American countries, provided they are members in good standing with SBV (for the year 2026) or with SBV’s partner Latin American societies.
* IMPORTANT: Depending on the funds raised by the Brazilian Society of Virology, more than twenty (20) Brazilian candidates and two (2) candidates affiliated with institutions in Latin American countries may be awarded, even partially, in order to optimize the use of available resources.
Students and postdoctoral researchers who are part of the SBV Junior Board are not eligible to apply for the SBV Student/Post-Docs Travel Grants program.
Candidates will be evaluated based on the information and documents provided in the application form. If necessary, the distance between the candidate’s city of origin and Maceió will be used as a tie-breaking criterion.
Selected candidates will receive an email at the address provided during the application process by 11:59 PM on August 1, 2026, confirming their selection for the “SBV STUDENT/POST-DOC TRAVEL GRANT” program. Selected candidates must confirm their participation no later than August 8, 2026, via email: sbvirologia@gmail.com. In the event of no response or if the candidate is unable to attend the event, the grant will be reassigned to the next candidate, following the tie-breaking criteria described in the section “POSITIONS AND SELECTION CRITERIA” of this call. Candidates selected in the second round of this call will receive an email at the address provided during the application process by 11:59 PM on August 17, 2026, confirming their selection for the “SBV STUDENT/POST-DOC TRAVEL GRANT” program.
